Team Kutsero NZPBC – a team to beat at this year’s Lingaw Duwa

Sunshine, glorious sunshine! What a wet winter we had here in Auckland and now it seems like spring is here. Mornings are still chilly but it won’t be long now for the t-shirt, shorts and jandal weather, I can’t wait. The team at Lingaw Duwa are doing the sporting event again on Saturday 30th September and NZPBC is joining. This Filipino sporting event aims to promote Philippine traditional and indigenous games to strengthen the bond among various Filipino groups and introduce these games to other cultures. We totally enjoyed ourselves last time and the jolens finals was neck and neck and we were literally at the edge our seats and NZPBC won it at the last hole, what a game. This year we’re looking again into fielding a strong team so those weekend athletes who would love to play a game batolata or patintero please email your intentions to nsalas@ihug.co.nz. Remember this is also a family affair and social one as well. There are other games where your teenage kids can participate so bring them along. There are 7 games to be played namely batolata, dakop-dakop, patintero, siatong, jolen, takyan and kariling. And there will be prizes for best cheer, costume and banner. NZPBC team name is “ KUTSERO NZPBC”, the props team led by our chairman Lito made a kalesa and a paper mache horse. Lito – time to fatten up that horse ready for the big event.
